Business owners predominate with half of subscribers owning at least 25% of their business.

Website promotion responsibility is carried by 63% of subscribers, while the responsibility is held by another in-house employee by an additional 21%.

Small businesses predominate. 80% are in businesses smaller than 100 employees, 59% are in businesses smaller than 15 employees.

E-Commerce is practiced by 77% of our subscriber's companies'
websites, about half business-to-business and and half business-to-consumer. Web

Industries represented include a broad range with a cluster in computer-related, marketing, and advertising. Some of the larger groups are computer consultants (who often influence large budgets of their clients) 10%, website developers 13%, with a strong showing in other computer-related industries. Marketing and advertising professionals 12%, media and publishing professionals 8%, and retail 11%. (Note: Web Commerce Today has spikes among manufacturers 9% and retail 17%.).

Global representation is found on our lists. While the bulk of readers are from the US (58%), we have strong segments from the UK (8%), Canada (8%), Australia (5%), India (2%), and New Zealand (2%), with strong representation from Europe, and Southeastern Asia. Fully 42% of subscribers are outside the US, and this is increasing as e-commerce grows in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
